Space Needle in Downtown Gatlinburg

Space Needle in Downtown Gatlinburg, Tennessee

The Space Needle is almost an unofficial mascot for the city of Gatlinburg. The Space Needle is arguably one of the most memorable establishments in town (likely because its harder not to see it than it is TO see it). The Space Needle is a skyscraping structure that reaches 407 feet into the air for a wide-angle view of the Smokies and Gatlinburg and the dozens of photo opportunities that follow.   The Space Needle live Webcam is always available for online views of Gatlinburg.

Below is a 25,000 family fun center complete with arcade, pool tables, prizes, pizza and more. It’s a great way to spend the afternoon with the kids in the Smokies.

The Space Needle is in the center of town and a quick 7-10 minute walk from your Baskin Creek cabin or chalet in downtown Gatlinburg. Baskins Creek supports all the major attractions here in Gatlinburg plus your right to enjoy them with convenience. If you’d like a Smoky Mountain Vacation without a lot of endless driving, gas pumping and parking tickets, make your reservations with Baskins Creek Vacation Rentals here in downtown Gatlinburg!

Valentines Day in Gatlinburg

Posted By Blog Bear on January 9, 2011

Valentines Day is about a month away and many couples are making plans now to spend a romantic weekend together fanning the flames of their love!  Holiday Lights and displays will be up through the month of February to add to the festive feeling.

Night Skiing in Gatlinburg at Ober Gatlinburg Ski Slopes

Ober Gatlinburg Night Skiing

We’ve been having perfect weather for snow and the snow base at Ober Gatlinburg is the best its been in years.  Today they have a 36″ to 60″ base and 8″ of new snow sporting a groomed surface.  7 of 9 trails are open along with the Magic Carpet Snow Tubing area.

Our picks for a romantic dinner in Gatlinburg are The Peddler, Cherokee Grill and Park Grill.    All three restaurants serve excellent dinners and have romantic atmospheres.

Romantic and Warm Fireplace in a Gatlinburg Log Cabin

Romantic and Warm Fireplace in your Gatlinburg Cabin

After a day playing in the snow and a great dinner you can relax by the cozy fireplace in your cabin or honeymoon suite.  Other amenities you want to consider for your romantic getaway will be the addition of an indoor Jacuzzi, and outdoor Hot Tub or a Pool Table, or maybe all three.

The weekends before and after Valentines Day are both very popular so start planning today.  Since you will be coming during the winter bring your warm clothes, hat and gloves so you can stroll the Parkway in Gatlinburg.

A note of caution:  it is winter and we are in the Smoky Mountians so a little snow is not unusual.  Be prepared to drive on snow.  We recommend driving a 4 wheel drive vehicle.  Tire chains are a great precaution for all of us,  just “in case”, that you’ll want to purchase before leaving for your vacation.  Lots of people arrive unprepared for winter driving and try to buy them after arrival only to find the stores have already sold out of their limited supply.
